Wouter Crul
Director
Wouter is an experienced digital transformation expert and AI venture builder who helps organizations turn promising AI opportunities into scalable, commercially viable ventures. He also helps build stronger digital foundations for future growth. He brings extensive hands-on expertise in opportunity validation, customer discovery, rapid prototyping, digital product development, change management, and go-to-market execution.
He’s also a bit of an AI “suitgeek,” so feel free to reach out to him for AI strategy, AI master classes and workshops, and AI assurance design.
My talent
I think one of my greatest strengths is eliminating ideas that won’t scale or add value for our clients. But I get much more satisfaction from doing the other side of that very same coin—successfully iterating new AI business ideas through all phases of innovation, validation, and funding. And designing the best (internal) change strategies or (external) go-to-market strategies to reap the rewards.
And I enjoy helping clients achieve unfair competitive advantages through digital and AI, no matter how ambitious and complex the opportunity may be.
My education
Not sure if these still matter…;-)
but here they are:
- Delft University of Technology – Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
- International Institute for Management Development (IMD) Lausanne – Master of Business Administration
People and organizations that inspire me
There are many, but only two stand out
- Andrew Ng (formerly of Google and Baidu, now at Coursera, DeepLearning.AI, and Stanford) because he has been openly sharing the lessons he’s learned from eight years of AI entrepreneurship, so we can learn from his insights and experiences. I had the opportunity to take a picture of his office at the Stanford AI Lab a few years ago when I was visiting with my son Thomas. I still treasure that picture!
- Yvon Chouinard and Patagonia for leading the way in building a business that shows us that people, profit, and the planet go hand in hand. And for taking the final step by making “the Earth their only shareholder.”
What I like to do in my spare time
- Ride all kinds of bikes across all kinds of terrain with all kinds of friends and family
- Prepare and enjoy good food
- Game nights with the family
- Discovering new music and enjoying dance parties
This song kicks off my weekend
Just one thing… “You get what you give” – New Radicals, but also Incognito’s “Always There” and Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” and “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis!
