A new lead within a recently formed team that focuses on the Public and Social domain
Working with ministries and local authorities, such as municipalities and implementation organizations, requires a tailored approach due to their unique dynamics. That is why in 2025, the “Public and Social Domain” team was established, and Suzanne Nederlof took on the leadership of that team. With current projects at GGD GHOR NL, RIVM, the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth (KGG), and the Institute for Mining Damage in Groningen (IMG), a strong foundation had already been established to build upon.
Meet Suzanne Nederlof
Suzanne Nederlof studied at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and happily lives in this city of “no words but deeds” with her husband and two children. This is reason enough to ask Suzanne a few pressing questions.
Our expertise in the public domain has grown considerably in recent years. With the addition of the TNW Programs and Aimforthemoon teams, our impact has been further strengthened. This provides us with more opportunities to support organizations.

Why is there a team for the public domain now?
Suzanne Nederlof: “nlmtd has been evolving for 7 years. As we grow, it’s important to develop a clear focus. We are expanding our expertise and providing structure around various themes. What started as a compact team handling all assignments together has now grown to over 100 consultants in the Netherlands and Denmark”.
Our expertise and experience in the public sector have increased significantly in recent years, enabling us to better support a wider range of organizations. Additionally, in January 2025, nlmtd acquired TNW Programs, and the Aimforthemoon team joined us. Both of these groups have loyal customer bases in the public sector, which means our portfolio of clients and services has developed rapidly in a short amount of time.”
Korik Alons emphasizes the importance of Suzanne's leadership
Korik Alons, the Managing Partner of nlmtd, expresses his enthusiasm about Suzanne taking on the responsibility for the Public and Social Domain sector. He emphasizes the importance of this role, especially in times when public duties require increased attention and systems are under significant pressure due to national and international tensions. Alons believes that with a targeted approach, they can better serve their clients in addressing complex societal challenges. These include ensuring continuity in a dynamic policy landscape with various stakeholders, maintaining the human element in (digital) transformations, and developing future-proof, integrative strategies. He notes that Suzanne provides the necessary focus and strengthens their leadership team at a critical moment.
What does nlmtd do for public and social organizations?
What are the most important services that nlmtd offers in this domain?
Suzanne Nederlof: “We assist clients with several key services that are especially significant in the Public and Social sector. Below, I outline the four main areas where we are actively involved:“
- For organizations that need to undergo significant transitions in a short period, we help achieve results while considering both short-term and long-term goals, all within a complex stakeholder landscape. This was particularly evident during the scaling up of the GGDs (Municipal Health Services) during the COVID-19 crisis, as well as in our current work with the IMG (Implementation Management Group) for victims of earthquake damage. We are also exploring the potential application of nuclear energy for the KGG ministry, in addition to improving pandemic preparedness for the Netherlands at the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). These initiatives present long-term challenges at the intersection of politics and citizens’ needs.
- Effective communication with citizens is crucial in many of these initiatives. By employing Design Thinking, particularly Service Design, we help develop new services and tools that prioritize citizens. This ensures they receive timely and clear information, appropriate guidance, and feel truly heard and understood.
- Another focus of our services is setting up Innovative Ecosystems and Cluster Development. A notable example of our expertise is the establishment and acceleration of innovative procurement processes within public organizations. Often seen as a barrier to effective innovation and collaboration, with the right experience and attention, these processes can be streamlined effectively. The acquisition of TNW Programs has significantly enhanced nlmtd’s capabilities in this area. For instance, we have served as the Ecosystem Orchestrator for Schiphol Group for three years. Additionally, we support local authorities and cluster initiatives, including those in Amsterdam, The Hague, Lelystad, Almere, Rotterdam, Techleap, InvestNL, as well as the Ministry of Defense and the Air Force.
- In the social domain, we collaborate with organizations such as Vluchtelingenwerk (Refugee Work), Rainforest Alliance, IND (Immigration and Naturalization Service), and the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF) to develop new services and programs tailored to their target groups.
“As you can see,” says Suzanne, “it is time to give this client group special attention. We can create a significant impact on these organizations and the Dutch people who rely on their services.”
