Unfortunately, they also appear to be a complex form of cooperation. This will necessarily require all stakeholders in the relevant chain to work together in an ecosystem, for example, by looking holistically at the value chain that produces energy or food, including all stakeholders that influence or are affected by it. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1afd007 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1afd007\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Streamlining complexities<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0acc0dc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0acc0dc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\" lang=\"NL-NL\" xml:lang=\"NL-NL\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">However, an important characteristic of an ecosystem is that <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">there is<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">no central leadership, similar to a school of fish or a flock of birds. It is a set of parts that are interconnected and constantly influence each other, with interests that are not always congruent. As a result, there is a risk that the parties will sit and wait for one another, creating an impasse. Or that, out of self-interest, short-term choices are made that are destructive to the higher goal. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">This is a classic example <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">of<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">the &#8216;<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW92044795 BCX8\">prisoner&#8217;s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\"> dilemma<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\"> derived from &#8216;game theory&#8217; originated by John <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW92044795 BCX8\">von<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW92044795 BCX8\">Neumann<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\"> The thought experiment shows why rational individuals sometimes fail to cooperate, even<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">when it is<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\"> beneficial to do so. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\">It is therefore important<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW92044795 BCX8\"> to formulate the common goal clearly at the outset and explicitly check whether everyone is prepared to commit to it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f432e09 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f432e09\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">We add to it<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c50d31 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4c50d31\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW33282608 BCX8\" lang=\"NL-NL\" xml:lang=\"NL-NL\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW33282608 BCX8\">Another difficulty is in quantity. Metcalfe&#8217;s law states that the value of a network increases exponentially with each additional member<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW33282608 BCX8\">. But with that, the number of interrelationships also explodes (according to the formula R = L(L-1)\/2), as if you were using a <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW33282608 BCX8\">spirograph<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW33282608 BCX8\"> and drawing: at 14 members, there are already 91.
